Vibration Analyzer

While your phone may have an application to sense vibration or how fast you can shake it, finding a way to measure the vibration of external devices was previously quite difficult. However, a vibration analyzer can be used for inspection, production, and lab tests, and units are being sold in large quantities now for any type of need.

These analyzers can determine if your machine or other device is being efficient, doing damage to the surrounding area, or just provide an accurate reading for measuring vibration!

Generally speaking, vibration analyzers can provide accurate readings for vibration acceleration, vibration velocity, and vibration displacement. By providing 3 different types and ways of measuring what is crudely called shaking, your machinery can be monitored and analyzed for specific inefficiencies rather than simply guessing as to what is actually the problem.

Another great feature about vibration analyzers are their portability. Generally a handheld device, they can be easily moved and stored for later use if need be or left on the machine. With technology advancing, some even now can fit in your pocket! These portable electronic devices can provide a quick measurement of imbalance and can test the durability of gears and other parts.

Other common features of vibration analyzers – also called a vibration meter or vibration tester - include being battery powered, having a backlit display, automatic disconnection in order to prevent wasteful battery usage, and a low battery indicator. With all of these features, your vibration analyzer does much more than take measurements!

Depending on the shape and size of the device, you will be able to insert it on different parts and layers of a machine -- something to consider when purchasing a vibration analysis device. Generally, there are 4 classes of motors that can be tested; class I, class II, class III, and class IV. The progression upwards indicates an increase in power, and class IV possessing bearing or stator oscillation.

With most devices, an analysis chart that indicates what is very good, good, bad, and prohibited for vibration in mm/sec is given in order for a handy reference that’ll fit in one’s pocket.

Protecting the motor or other parts of a machine is crucial to running an efficient and profitable business. Therefore, it is highly important to be able to perform regular but simple vibration analysis, and maintenance on your motor parts. Using a vibration analyzer, you can quickly and effectively monitor your motors state and quickly decide if any problems exist!
